Polished Plaster by Hydrazzo
A silky smooth texture, combined with the proven durability of exposed aggregates, are two prime features of this state-of-the-art pool finish.
With unique color selections and natural variegated appearance, Aquavations Hydrazzo complements all poolscape designs. This polished pool surface creates a finish that is naturally resistant to spot etching, topical stains, permanent scale and algae adhesion.
This surface is applied like the quartz and pebble, but has an additional step, the polishing phase. We will actually go over the entire surface with diamond tipped polishers to ensure the entire surface is smooth. This surface is available in multiple colors and is a high end pool finish.
One of the great features of this plaster is the built in fail safe it has. If water chemistry becomes out of whack and the plaster becomes rough, the pool can be drained, then acid wash to clean the plaster, then re-polished. This will make the plaster look brand new and will be a lot less than having the pool re-plastered. This can only be done with polished marble and not quartz or pebble. Once quartz and pebble become rough the only thing that can be done is a resurfacing.
Hydrazzo is the standard pool finish used in our new construction projects and has a 10 year warranty.
Quartz
Quartz plaster is a mixture of quartz aggregates with portland cement. This plaster is very durable due to the high content of quartz minerals. The plaster is available in many colors and can be made Common brands are Krystalkrete and Diamondbrite. Both products have a 10 year warranty.
White Plaster
White plaster is the least durable plaster and the least expensive plaster. It has a relatively smooth finish and looks light blue when filled with water.
We generally do not recommend going with a white plaster due to the inherent weakness in the material, though in some indoor applications it can be a suitable surface. The material is warranted to last 1 year. We recommend using a quartz plaster or Hydrazzo.
Pebble
Pebble plaster has become very popular out west due to the natural rocky terrain. This plaster is durable like the quartz plaster and available in different colors. Pebble is best used for very natural pool scapes.
This surface can be rough, so we do not recommend this for spas or pools that will be used by children.
Glass Bead
This finish is relatively new and looks incredible. The best look for any pool is achieved with glass tile. A glass bead finish is the closest way to get that look with a fraction of the cost. This is quickly becoming extremely popular and is considered very high end. There are standard colors to choose from as well the option for custom colors. This finish takes a high degree of skill to install and the glass beads are very expensive.
